The three teams above Blackburn at the moment, Whitley, Altrincham and champions Billingham have all finished their league campaign for this season.
Although the Hawks can't now win the league, by winning their remaining two away fixtures against Sunderland and Grimsby (which was abandonned earlier in the month) they will finish second in the table.
That would mark their highest league finish since 1996 when guided by coach Ryan Kummu when they narrowly missed out on winning the league towards the end of the season when out powered by a much stronger Manchester Storm outfit.
Following the remaining two games, they will take part in the ENHL play-off's during March, the fixtures for which are yet to be announced.
Meanwhile, in other competitions the Hawks have faired not too badly. With one game to go in the qualifying stages of the English Cup (away against Altrincham) they have a chance of finishing second in group A. Both teams are equal on games played, goals scored, won, lost and points. Altrincham however have coneded less goals and so would finish second in the group if the game ended as a draw.
They have also finished second of three teams in group B of the Anglo-Scottish Cup, taking them into the semi final stage of cup where they will take on either Dundee or Kingston.
