The Blackburn Blackhawks played their first game in Oxford against the City Stars in a non-import challenge match. The Blackhawks came out of the game as 6-3 winners.
Lead by Coach, Pete Murray the Blackhawks finished in a decent fourth place in the English League Division One. They just fought out an automatic promotion, due to the colapse of Solihull in the Heineken League, which meant that the next season saw the Blackhawks competing against the 'big boys'.
To celebrate the tenth anniversary, Eye of the Hawks are planning many features to run through the season, including a guide to the past ten years with History of the Hawks. They are also inviting both Hawks and opposition hockey fans to leave their views on the past ten years in their guestbook. There are plans to include comments from the guestbook into a booklet being produced by the Mohawks, the official supporters club of the Blackburn Hawks.
To leave your views, see the Talkback section of Eye of the Hawks.
The Mohawks are also planning other events to mark the tenth anniversary and are currently selling official memorabilia from the club table in Blackburn Arena on match nights.
