Steve Kean, the undisputed manager of Blackburn Rovers. Since being put in charge by the very club owners who had never seen a game of football, nor knew what ‘relegation’ was, he has a fantastic record that most managers would struggle to emulate.
He’s also really good in front of the press, here are a few of his quotes:
“We’ve had a meeting and discussed where we are looking to strengthen.” – goal, defence, midfield, attack, manager, assistant manager and boardroom being just a few areas.
“Our away form has been pretty good despite not always getting the points we deserved.”
“You hope that you can turn around people who have got a little bit of negativity and want to have a go.” – Yep, keep going how you are and they’ll all turn around and walk away from Ewood.
“The good thing from my point of view is that the majority of supporters were with us here.” – That’s right, we were all in the same stadium.
“I don’t know if it is a large section of the crowd, and to be fair, I’m not really paying any attention to anybody who is staying behind.” – Showing how important the fans are to the club these days.
“I know Junior wants to sign and everything is almost in place for him to put pen to paper on a very long contract.” – He’s just struggling to make up his mind which club he wants to sign for when he leaves Blackburn.
“We’ve been excellent this season.” – Saturday 17th September, 2011.
“Those stats can turn around and there have been plenty of teams in a lot more difficult position that have managed to put runs together.” – They’re normally running away from the taxman.
“You do that by continuing to make chances to score goals and by keeping clean sheets” – two things Rovers have struggled with.
“You never like to lose but we have shown in the past we can rally and put results together” – remember that day in May everyone?
“I am convinced if we keep going the way we have been going offensively, when we put our back four together, I will enjoy having five or six clean sheets because they will mean three points.” – the only thing Rovers are don’t offensively is continuing to employ Steve Kean. I find him very offensive.
